Our art association was started in 1960 and has been very active ever since. The members had community dances and art shows, hoping always to fund a center all their own. We held classes and workshops with local artists and members often met informally to paint together. The main activity was the monthly DEMOs by talented artists. Two big art shows and one big art sale a year were held. Meetings were at the old Thayer Library originally, followed by the Council of Aging, and currently at new Thayer Public Library. Many members were very productive and went on to be talented artists and teachers.
Presently we have 100 members. Our goal is to continue to offer stimulating DEMOS and art shows. And soon we may be offering classes at the Braintree Community Art Center opening in the fall on Washington Street, Braintree.
